Brief Description of Duties / Responsibilities:

I assist buyers and sellers in making their biggest decisions of their lives while helping to make it happen.

College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

College Works Painting has prepared me for my future and given my confidence to pursue my desired career.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

Before getting hired, my boss didn’t even need to interview me. I told him about my experiences with College Works Painting, and he told me he hired me on the spot. He was the first broker I met with, and he was selling me on the job more than I was selling him on my credentials.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

My favorite clients name was Dave in 2014. He was very well-known for Real Estate in the town that I was working in. We talked for hours about my aspirations to work in the Real Estate industry. I originally wanted to stay out of sales and go into real estate investment, like he did. He was the one who convinced me to become an agent instead. By the end of our dealings together, he treated me like a daughter and there were even talks of me coming to work for him to eventually take over is Real Estate business. I plan on going to meet with him just to thank him for helping to turn me down the right path.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

Do what you have to do now, so you can do what you want to do later.

How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?

I have remained friends with many College Works Painting alumni. I have even been dating an alumni, Brett Koop. He and I just traveled to backpack across Europe this past November together. Some other alumni have moved to my city for more job opportunities, and they are our best friends. We hang out with them at least every other week, and we will probably be in each others weddings. On top of our friendship, they give me all sorts of referrals for my Real Estate business, and I will be assisting them in buying a house as well!

If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?

I’m going to stick to the classic: Work Hard, Play Hard

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

Do your best and forget the rest and listen to your District Manager.

Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?

This is the best internship for Real Estate Sales. If you get an offer for a different internship, do them both.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

My College Works Painting experience helped me with this career. An agent acts as their own business that also must market and sell themselves to get clients. Be prepared to spend a lot of money to get started in this career, but make a lot more money back once you get going.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

Meeting my boyfriend.

Last words of wisdom?

You can do it!
