College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

College Works Painting has changed not only myself immensely, but it has shown the people that are close to me what they might be capable of as well.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

Immediately after I finished school I moved out to expand College Works Painting to new territories. I was given the opportunity to do the one thing I love about this business the most, expand.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

The greatest lesson I learned when I was with College Works Painting was learning how to cope with stress. I tell people all the time that I had some of the most stressful days of my life through my college works internship year. I can honestly look back at those times with a smile knowing that getting through those days are what made me stronger. Now even with the extended responsibilities I’m able to control my stress levels.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

This is going to be, most likely, the most difficult experience of your life. Embrace it, know that there will be challenges ahead and run into them. The first step is always the hardest. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you get knocked down (You will get knocked down). Be the first to introduce yourself, don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself, trust yourself and lean on your fellow interns, and let them lean on you. Friendships born from hardships last forever.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Do what you have to do now so you can do what you want to do later. I have tried to live by this since my first days at College Works Painting, and yea, it’s still paying off.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

Bringing my first group of interns (as a DM) to Cancun with me. Having them all meet the people that made it with them, having them thank me for helping them get there. Proudest moment of my life.

Last words of wisdom?

Have fun, after all your just painting houses.
