College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

Eye-opening, world changing, inspiring, independent, capable.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

College Works Painting opened up multiple internship opportunities in different industries during school. I worked for GE Appliances in Kentucky and BNSF Railway in Texas before I finished college, and within 6 months after I graduated I had 3 different companies recruiting me in Chicago!

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

I am so grateful that many generous people took a risk to hire me and give me the opportunity to grow and learn through this process. So many people we’re patient and kind towards me when things didn’t go well and showed their gratitude when they saw all the effort I put in to make sure their house was as beautiful as they’d want.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

Ambition and success is contagious and attractive.

How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?

I was the best man in the wedding of a College Works Painting friend, groomsmen in another, and all my current coworkers are College Works Painting alumni.

If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?

Why choose between what you can learn, and what you can earn?

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

The more you put in, the more you get out. The more you help others, the more you’re helping yourself.

Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?

Sales and management are not just careers, they’re life skills that will enhance your ability to perform in any industry.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Have integrity, be honest and humble, work on developing your character above all else.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

The day I went boating on a Tuesday with my friends while my crews were painting and that feeling.

Last words of wisdom?

Matthew 6:33 – Seek first God and all else will be provided for you!
