College Works Career Impact
In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting has opened my eyes to the real world, and made me realize that I’m running out of time to establish myself as one step ahead of everyone else.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
College Works Painting has helped me maintain focus in striving for the best.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Robin Spangler in 2013 from South Milwaukee. I messed up big time bidding his house. He renegotiated, helped prep the house, and kept his cool the whole time. His personality and demeanor helped me strive through it.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Always double check your work, and if an uncertainty arises, ask upper management for help. Especially with this company.
How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?
I’ve made good friends through my Milwaukee team that I stay in contact with. The connections this company builds for interns are endless. Clients are key.
If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?
Learn and earn now. Live and relax later.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
If you want to have a strong resume, make some good money, and make great connections then follow through with it.
Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?
Estimates, payroll, cost of materials, and contracts all rely on accounting and numbers. This is great experience for running a business.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Accounting is needed either with filing personal taxes or running a corporate business. It pays well and will always be in demand. Aside from my major, College Works Painting is a great internship and has the best hands-on experience any student can have while in school.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
WI Dells. I had a great time with people on my Milwaukee team.
Last words of wisdom?
This opportunity is not one to pass up.
