College Works Painting is my reminder that hard work and dedication eventually lead to great things.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

Immediately after graduation, my College Works Painting experience gave me the courage to try something on my own. Today, that experience keeps me driven to do better in my career and never forget the ultimate goal of becoming my own boss.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

I would just say thank you to all of my clients for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to learn and develop as a business man and a person.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

That you can do most anything if you set your mind to it.

How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?

I actually partnered with a College Works Painting colleague for a short time on a business venture. Although the partnership is dissolved, the friendship is still strong.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

In addition to setting aside lots and lots of time for marketing and sales, I would suggest taking as much advantage of the representatives from the paint store to learn the paint business as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Then, I would recruit every hard-working friend I knew and try to create the best crews to run your business. Then give them whatever they want to get things done so you can focus on growing the business.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

It almost doesn’t matter what industry you intend to build your career in; having College Works Painting on your resume will show your dedication and leadership abilities and make you stand out from the rest of the crowd. Furthermore, your own self-confidence might just multiple tenfold, allowing you to do better at whatever interests you in the first place.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

My favorite memory was winning the sales and marketing competitions.

Last words of wisdom?

When everything seems to be going wrong, don’t forget that this is just one summer before you even graduate college and 99.9% of your classmates wouldn’t even have the balls to try to do what you are getting done.
