College Works Career Impact
In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting was a wake up call that helped launch me into the career I am in today.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
Immediately after graduation it helped me to become more organized and more focused on what the next step of my life after college would be. Now I look back on it and use the tools I gained while with College Works Painting for the career I am in now.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Never get to high or to low. Things are going to happen good and bad, we cant always control that. What we can control is how we respond to the adversity when things go wrong and that we make sure not to let up when things are going right.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Make this internship your own. Truly treat it as your own business because essentially it is. Your name and face is on every thing you do and whether you know it or not, you are always interviewing with every person you meet. You never know when doing a simple job correctly for the right person might result in the start of your career after college.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Be emotionally steady. People will feed off of the way you act. If something goes wrong and you start to panic, they will start to panic. Have confidence in the decisions you make even if you are not sure it is the correct one. Remember that leaders lead from the front, so be the person that your people want to come to for help and guidance on what they are doing.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
Watching Boiler Room to get pumped up for sales.
Last words of wisdom?
Stay positive and work hard. Those two things combined have the ability to take you very far. When you decide to do something be relentless. Treat every opportunity you pursue as if your life depends on you succeeding at it.
