College Works Career Impact

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

My experience with College Works Painting definitely made my resume more impressive. Just being able to put the amount of revenue you produce on your resume is worth the price of admission. I had always worked in restaurants to make money throughout high school and college, and I did some field studies and campaigns through Temple University that all contributed to my work ethic, but my time with College Works Painting was far more valuable than anything else I did in college.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

Richard Spillane- My biggest job of the summer. Upon completion of his home, he gave me the best reference letter I’ve ever received. I guess I would want to thank Richard for being just crazy enough to take a chance on me and invest $12,000 on the job my crew and I did. You gave me the opportunity to prove to you, and to myself that I could do whatever I set my mind to.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

It’s always impossible until it’s done.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

The College Works Painting internship isn’t easy. But if you put in the time and you listen to your DM, it will be worth it.

Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?

Remember to think about the big picture and why you started College Works Painting in the first place. When you get into the real world-there’s a big difference between saying you’re hard working and showing how hard you’ve worked.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

I didn’t do an internship in college so I can’t speak much for those, but I can say with 100% certainty that College Works Painting gave me the confidence in the business world that I still carry today.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

Cancun!! Of course. Skydiving, Penn State weekends and football games, booking my biggest job of the Summer.
