College Works Career Impact
In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
Gave me career direction.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
I still get recruiters reaching out to me because I did College Works Painting.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Favorite clients were a couple with 3 kids. Husband cursed me off when I called after making the initial lead. Wife called back and apologized. I would tell them that I love their highlighter yellow shed.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Let go of the things you cannot control.
If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?
Painting is easy.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Do it. Keep doing it.
Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?
College Works Painting covers many, many industries. What good is an internship in a field you end up disliking?
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Always be closing.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
Walking out of someone’s house with a check for $15k. I never saw that much money in one place before.
Last words of wisdom?
Complete the program. Do not give up. Just finish because the experience will pay you back over and over and over. Worth more than my degree.
