College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

College Works Painting set me apart as a man who defines the culture around him.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

Immediately after graduation: I had sales recruiters calling me all the time with job opportunities, unfortunately I was pursuing engineering. Once I began my Engineering interviews, the power theory and rapport building skills I learned in College Works Painting allowed me to dominate them. Now: The rapport building and client relations aspects of College Works Painting have allowed me to build strong relationships withing Caltrans and secured my position as a consultant in their office.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

Thank you for choosing me to paint your house, you made the College Works Painting experience even more fulfilling.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

Activity vs Achievement. What is a 20 hour weekend of marketing, or a 40 hour work week worth if you have no achievements to show for it?

How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?

After College Works Painting, I lived with other interns and I continue to hang out with them. For my 21st birthday a few of them opened up their house and we had 150 people there with a live DJ and an incredible night. Every time I’m in SF I’m hanging out with former College Works Painting Colleges. Last time we all got a yacht and sailed around the SF bay partying it up.

If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?

Changing lives.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

If you want to position yourself for better jobs in the future and are willing to do the hard work, then go for it. Current College Works Painting participants: Every ‘no’ brings you closer to that ‘yes’. You are the only one who controls your attitude and your attitude & determination will determine your success in College Works Painting. Learn as much form your RC as you can and know what you want to learn in every meeting you have with them.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Engineering is just about the farthest industry from College Works Painting, but the skills I learned have set me apart from all the book worms I’m competing against. Everyone successful person in my company looks like they could have been one of the Million Dollar Man under Jarric Ramos.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

The VP got the top performers a suite at the W Hotel in SF and tickets to the Giants-Dodgers Game. While we were pre-gaming, he decided to fly up a couple RCs from Southern California division to celebrate with us. It was a wild night surrounded by a bunch of studs.

Last words of wisdom?

Chris Knight and myself traded off #1 and #2 all sales season because we spend every night doing calls and role plays together.Leverage every resource around you to learn and grow.
