What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?

My proudest accomplishment is getting my own business started and having the confidence to make it work. I know that if I work hard enough, I can be successful.

College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

College Works Painting helped me define my career path by opening my eyes to business and entrepreneurship.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

I was originally a Criminal Justice major in college. After doing the internship, I realized that I loved marketing and sales. After being a District Manager for a year, I realized that I had a major passion for teaching and coaching others. The 2 years I spent as the Marketing Director with College Works Painting helped me hone my marketing and branding chops. I was able to start my business and do all of my own website design, branding and promotion.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

My favorite client was Ronald Latin. He trusted me so much that he let me write the check for him (he was nearly blind). Building trust with my customers was always something I strived for and that has helped me to become a trustworthy person today.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

During my College Works Painting experience I learned how to handle rejection. Learning how to cold call effectively while maintaining a positive attitude has been the single most effective skill that’s helped me succeed as an entrepreneur.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

Get the most out of the program by applying yourself. Don’t rest on your laurels. Getting selected to do the program is just the start. Be THE BEST among the best.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

For someone looking to become an entrepreneur, my advice is simple: take the leap and give it a shot. You don’t have to quit your job to be an entrepreneur. Start a side hustle. Take a course on how to start your online business. Start a podcast. You can turn a side hustle into a full time entrepreneurial gig eventually.

Your future starts here.
