College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

I use the management techniques and soft skills I obtained from my College Works Painting internship everyday; it was truly the launchpad of my career as a professional.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

I talked about College Works Painting in every interview I’ve ever had. For a long time it was the anchor of my resume.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

Do what you have to do now, so you can do what you want to do later.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

You get what you put in.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Public accounting challenges you to do critical thinking everyday. It goes way beyond crunching numbers. Also, pass your CPA exams before you start working full-time.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

Playing paintball in Chicago with the Illinois interns.

Last words of wisdom?

Make the most of anything that you do. Nothing is permanent. And enjoy college! Making money is fun but real world responsibility isn’t.
