What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?

Being promoted several times during the short span of a year and passing my Series 65 Securities License test has been my proudest accomplishment.

College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

College Works Painting changed my life forever by empowering me to unlock all of my potential; I didn’t realize this until several years later, but College Works Painting set me on a path of success that is way ahead of my peers.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

The experience and determination I learned during my time at College Works Painting helped me get my foot in the door of a great company, and once inside it help me stand out against my peers.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

I’ll never forget her name, Shelby Zwick. I hate to admit it, but the day I did Shelby’s estimate I had decided it was my last day, I was going to quit the program. Shelby agreed to the paint job and gave me an opportunity to be successful. Because of her I did not quit, and from that day on, I closed almost all my estimates. I would tell her, thank you for saving my career, thank you giving me a chance.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

I learned that resilience, determination, and emotional intelligence will get you farther than any other aptitudes or abilities.

How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?

During my time at College Works Painting we took several trips, to Sedona AZ, to LA and attended The Price is Right, to Rocky Point Mexico and I have great memories from all of those. I have been able to stay in touch with old friends from College Works Painting.

If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?

College Works Painting is the place where business leaders are born.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

Sales is an emotional roller coaster, check your emotions at the door and give it your best every time.

Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?

It doesn’t matter. It is highly likely that with any other internship you will sit somewhere in corner and watch other people do what you want to do. College Works Painting is all hands on, and the experience obtained at College Works Painting carries over on to any career field.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Always keep in mind the goals and objectives of your clients. The industry is heading more and more towards the fiduciary standard and away from full commission stock brokers. Go for the position that will allow you to act in a fiduciary capacity and always do what is best for the client.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

I was sitting on my couch at home, after a long day of production during the summer of 2010, and I will never forget this sudden feeling of accomplishment I felt – I had made it, and my business was running like a well oiled machine.

Last words of wisdom?

If you are looking to become a branch manager at College Works Painting or if you are currently one, know this, that this will be one of the hardest things you will ever do, and this will be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. But sacrifice comes first and reward later, so give it enough time and enough effort, finish what you start, and finish strong.

Your future starts here.
